Hikes for Hounds offer a complete range of pet care services including dog walking, pet and house sitting, pet feeding, puppy care and pet transportation. We provide a friendly, reliable and professional service which is tailored to meet your and your pet's needs. Hikes for Hounds are fully insured and our dog walkers and pet sitters are police checked (CRB).
Pets travel safely in our specially adapted van and no more than four dogs are walked at a time. We also follow the recommended code of practice set out by the Nationwide Associates of Registered Pet Sitters (NARPSUK). Our dog walking services are available for people living in Eastbourne, Polegate, Pevensey, Westham, Hailsham and the surrounding villages.
Being a working mother I find it very hard to dedicate the same amount of time to walking Natty my Jack Russell Terrier as I used to. I met John down on the seafront one day with his dog Gyp and got talking and he explained what he did, since then John has come up regularly to get Natty and take her out and I now have a happy worn out dog.

My name is John and I run Hikes for Hounds.
I started Hikes for Hounds because friends suggested after walking their dogs during the winter months that I should do it for a living.
It seemed the perfect opportunity to combine my love of animals and working outside.
I have always enjoyed spending time with animals and as part of my degree I studied animal behaviour.
I therefore really know how important it is to keep animals amused with play and exercise.
Whether I am walking your dog or feeding your pet, I can assure you that I will treat your pet as if they are my own by providing love, cuddles and fun whilst they are under my care.

30 minute walk: Suitable for very young dogs that do not require a long walk or older dogs that tire quickly.
We will collect your dog and transport him or her to a nearby park or the country for a 30 minute walk.
One hour walk: A one hour walk on different routes in the countryside, woods, park, seafront or beach.
This option is the perfect way to keep your dog exercised daily.
Two hour walk: Two hours walking in the countryside.
If you have commitments or perhaps cannot walk long distances, this is an ideal option to give your dog a treat where they can enjoy the freedom and smells of the countryside.
We will collect your dog and transport him or her to a nearby park or the country for a 30 minute walk.

John came round to discuss the service and spend a little time getting to know our pet first.
Then on our weekend away John visited our house twice a day to feed and spend some time with Bamba our parrot, ensuring he was content.
