Once you have made the decision to get a puppy it is important that everyone in the family/household is 100% committed to the idea.
You may have a particular breed in mind and you should do some research into that breed so you are fully informed of what to expect, for example does the dog drool excessively, how much grooming will it need, how much will it cost to feed, if you live in an apartment would your vocal Beagle upset the neighbours?
Other factors to bear in mind are the level of exercise required and whether you have the time to provide that exercise and are you prepared for toilet training a puppy in the middle of winter?
